🦠 What is Marburg Virus?

Marburg virus causes Marburg Virus Disease (MVD), a rare but severe viral hemorrhagic fever similar to Ebola. It is believed to originate from infected Egyptian fruit bats and can spread between humans through direct contact.

• Bleeding from gums, nose, or in stool

3. Avoid caves or mines with fruit bats, and do not handle bats.

🏥 Is There a Cure?

There is no specific approved antiviral cure yet, but early supportive care saves lives:

• IV fluids and electrolytes to prevent dehydration and shock.
• Oxygen support and blood-pressure monitoring.
• Treatment of secondary infections.
• Care in isolation units to protect others.
