The Ethiopian Millennium Celebration in San Diego will not be celebrated in a hotel, not in a stadium, or rental hall. It will be celebrated at the World Beat CenterWhere is Worldbeat Center? It is located at the heart of San Diego historic Balboa Park, few miles away from San Diego down town, blocks away from the world renowned San Diego Zoo, few blocks away from San Diego City College, few miles away from North Park and Normal Heights. Easley accessible by car, bus, bike or people can walk to the center easily. It is a historic land mark. Easy to identify. The center is also best known around the world for celebrating the Emperor Haile Sellassie’s, the legendary Bob Marley’s and father of civil right movement leader Martin Luther King’s birthdays . The center has indoor and outdoor venues. We are allowed to use both venues. The Worldbeat Center is basically a home-away-home center. It is an educational, art and museum center. At this center thousands of visitors around the word learn about Ethiopia’s as well as the world’s culture and history. The center’s inside and outside is decorated by mostly Ethiopian flags (green, yellow and red) The center offers shows and classes in various fields, such as art and entertainment areas. Also annually, the center hosts various big events which attracts thousands spectators around the word. These are some of yearly past events organized by the center.
We, at the Ethiopian Millennium Celebration Organizing Committee are not just inviting Ethiopians, we are inviting friends of Ethiopia and their families too. This even will be an event where we will appreciate people who helped us in the past and will help us in the future, this event will be an event where we will recreate our “UNITY”. This event will help us to heal the wound, it will help us the celebrate the even as “ONE”. At this celebration we are expecting large crowd. Join us! Mark your calendar! Sep 8, 2007.
