Canadian passport photos, made to Canada’s specifications.

Canadian passport photos are different from standard U.S. passport photos. We provide an in-studio service with the required 50 × 70 mm format, face-size check and photographer information.

Key Canadian passport-photo requirements

We check the format against the current published requirements before delivery. The issuing authority’s instructions always control.

Finished photo size50 × 70 mm
Face measurement31–36 mm from chin to crown
Service typePhotographed in person in our studio
BackgroundPlain white or light-colored, with required contrast
ExpressionNeutral expression, mouth closed, eyes visible
Back informationStudio name, complete address and date taken on the back of one photo

A careful three-step studio process

Canada requires passport photos to be taken in person by a commercial photographer. Canadian passport service is therefore not offered through a generic at-home selfie process.

Photograph

We position the camera, lighting and subject for a natural, compliant result without identity-altering retouching.

Measure & review

We verify the finished size, chin-to-crown measurement, background and overall presentation.

Print & mark

We prepare the prints and add the required photographer information and date to the back of one photo.

Important for applicants in the United States

Do not submit an ordinary U.S. 2 × 2 inch passport photo for a Canadian passport application. Canada uses different dimensions and photographer requirements.

Before you arrive

  • Wear normal clothing that clearly separates you from a light background.
  • Bring glasses only if medically required; glare and tinted lenses are not acceptable.
  • Tell us the exact document type: Canadian passport, citizenship, permanent residence or visa.
  • Bring the latest application instructions if your case has a special requirement.
